Medical Assisting Clinical consists of lecture and clinical practicum that includes the following topics: Medical Terminology, Anatomy and Physiology, Infection Control, Vital Signs, Pharmacology, Medication Administration, Assisting with Physical Exams, EKG, and Phlebotomy. This course prepares the student to assist the doctor in actual patient treatment.

Medical Assisting returning student policy
If a student in the Medical Assisting pathway has an interruption in the taking of classes, they must return within 2 years, from the date of completion of their last class, to be eligible for the Core Completer Certificate and Internships.  If the time frame is longer than 2 years any previous core completer classes must be taken again.

**This course is an approved preparatory course to take the Pharmacy Technician’s Board Certification exam, which is a national standardized exam for Pharmacy Techs. Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to work effectively with pharmacists and provide services to customers. Upon successful completion of one hundred hours of classroom time, students will be recommended to intern in a local pharmacy. To work in a pharmacy, students must be able to obtain fingerprint clearance with the Department of Justice.

EMTs provide emergency medical and trauma care in the pre-hospital and emergency room setting. The course curriculum was developed by the National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration and is a Los Angeles County approved Emergency Medical Technician course. This course is a combination of theory lecture and discussion, and skills lab. Students will also complete clinical rotations with local ambulance companies or at a local hospital. Successful completion makes student eligible to sit for the National Registry of EMT exam.
